About TextFromAudio

Hi, I'm /H.lin/

Hlin, the developer behind TextFromAudioI made it because I love technology, and speech recognition is one of the most exciting places to watch it grow up. Not long ago, turning an hour of speech into text meant paying someone or typing it out by hand. Today a model small enough to run in a browser tab can do a solid job of it, and I wanted to put that in front of anyone who needs it.

Why I built it

Most audio to text tools ask you to sign up, cap your minutes or stamp a watermark on the result. I wanted the opposite: open the page, drop in a file, get your text. That's it.

So the free version has no limit on file length, number of files or languages, and there is no account to create.

How it works

In the free mode, the speech model runs in your browser, on your own device. It downloads the first time you use it and your browser keeps it, so later transcriptions start faster. The trade-off is that free uses lighter models, so it is slower and a little less accurate than Pro.

Pro runs a stronger model on our servers, which means faster and more accurate transcripts. Your file is deleted automatically once it has been processed. There is no account: you unlock Pro with a key. Pro is what keeps this site running and lets me keep improving it, while the free mode stays free.

What I care about

  • Free stays free. No hidden limits, no trial that quietly runs out.
  • Honesty about accuracy. AI transcripts are good, not perfect. Read through anything important, and fix mistakes right on the page before you copy or export.
  • Keeping it simple. One page, one job: turn speech into text.

Say hello

I share updates and what I'm building on X: @hlinhbuilds. If something doesn't work, a language comes out badly or you have an idea, send me a message there, or email me at contact@textfromaudio.io. I read everything.
